Dr. Jean-Jacques Dugoua, HBSc, ND, PhD

Dr. Jean-Jacques Dugoua, affectionately known as Dr. JJ, is a renowned naturopathic doctor, clinical pharmacologist, and pioneering researcher. He’s the Chief Medical Officer at Toronto’s Liberty Clinic and the first naturopathic doctor at Toronto Western Hospital’s Artist Health Center. Holding a PhD in Pharmacy Sciences from the University of Toronto, Dr. JJ’s research includes safety assessments of natural products during pregnancy and groundbreaking diabetes trials, among others. An influential co-author, his expertise also shines through global presentations, including engagements at the World Health Organization in Washington, DC.

Dr. Baljit Khamba, ND, MPH, EdD

Dr. Baljit Kaur Khamba is a naturopathic doctor, educator, researcher, and breast cancer survivor whose work is rooted in building cellular resilience and advancing patient-centered, integrative care. Her personal experience with cancer informs her clinical and academic focus, bringing a compassionate and evidence-informed approach to oncology, mental health, and chronic disease.

She began her career in mental health research at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health before transitioning into clinical practice in integrative settings across Canada, with a focus on mental health, metabolic conditions, and family care. She later moved into academic medicine and currently serves as Assistant Director for the Integrative and Functional Medicine Fellowship at the University of California Irvine Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute. Prior to that she had longstanding teaching and mentorship roles at Bastyr University.

Dr. Khamba holds a Doctor of Education from University of Western Ontario, where her work focused on equity and accessibility in naturopathic medical education. She also earned a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, a Master of Public Health from Lakehead University focused on nutrition and mental health, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology from York University.

Her work centers on women’s health, integrative oncology, and mental health, with an emphasis on mitochondrial function, methylation, detoxification, and whole-person healing. As a member of the Vitazan Medical Advancement Panel, she has contributed to the development of targeted, evidence-informed formulations. Nourish Resilience reflects the integration of her clinical expertise, research, and personal healing journey to support foundational health and long-term vitality.

Dr. Paul Richard Saunders is an accomplished professional with dual ND degrees from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and National College in Portland. His extensive experience spans over 30 years, employing a full range of naturopathic therapies and embracing complex cases. Notable roles at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine include Clinic Director and Associate Dean. Dr. Saunders continues to educate, research, and publish, holding an Adjunct Professorship at National University of Health Science. He is a member of peer-review committees for specialized journals, reviews grant requests for the National Institute of Health (NIH), and was recognized as Ontario Naturopathic Doctor of the Year in 1994 and 2002. He played a significant role in shaping Health Canada’s Office of Natural Health Products and its Expert Advisory Committee.
