Echinacea is used as an immune stimulator for colds and flus, sluggish immune system, and inflammation; as an analgesic, sedative, and antispasmodic; and to relieve pain and swelling, edema, and water retention. Echinacea is antiviral and an immune stimulant, effective for infections, sore throat, tonsillitis, ear and eye infections, environmental/seasonal allergies, and promoting wound healing, and has traditionally been used in the treatment of snake and insect bites, as well as scratches, boils, and abscesses. Echinacea is an immune herb that is safe for use in children. Since it is an immune stimulant, it should not be used by patients with autoimmune conditions.
Adults and adolescents 15 and over: Take 3 capsules twice daily with meals or as directed by your health-care practitioner. Take at the first sign of infection.
Duration of use: Consult a health-care practitioner for use beyond 8 weeks.

Consult a health-care practitioner prior to use if you are taking immunosuppressants; if you have an autoimmune disorder; or if you have a progressive systemic disease such as tuberculosis, leukosis, collagenosis or multiple sclerosis, AIDS and/or HIV infection.
Contraindications: Do not use if you are allergic to plants of the Asteraceae/Compositae/Daisy family. Hypersensitivity (e.g. allergy) has been known to occur; in which case, discontinue use.
